This beetle is not presently a serious problem in Cheyenne. Although
several years of mild winters and drought conditions have contributed
to the increase in the local population of the beetle species.
Infestations can be sprayed with insecticides containing
carbaryl, or a pyrethroid based insecticide. Another Website

If
possible, take a couple of digital photos of your tree or shrub
and include them with your questions. One photo should be a close
up of the problem area. The second photo should be of the entire
tree if possible.
